Little Mandarin

She tasted the Mandarins

Peeled then from their skin
And popped the sweet juice into her cherry lips bit by bit
Winter days had gone too soon
Now spring is almost upon us
Melted snow and sunlight
Savoring this morning
I’ll play for ukulele for her if I knew how
Instead I sing her a tune and she danced for me
Dancing in the spring breeze
The scent of mandarin under my nails
And her sweetness
