The stage

So when the curtain falls.
And the stage is dark.
And the music fades.
And the audience is gone.
There you’ll stand.
Holding on to it all.
The applause.
The praise.
All real or fake?

So when reality strikes
And you know you are fallible.
That the role that you’ve played
Could be easily replaceable.
Then you fade into the backdrop.
There you’ll wait in the wings.
Till the spotlight pivots.
Till your time to shine comes
Once again.
